Seasonal Flu Shots

When you get a flu shot, you protect yourself and all those around you

No Appointment Needed! Just Walk In!

UrgentCare Indy offers seasonal flu shots in our clinic beginning each fall through the winter months. This year, in the midst of the COVID-19 pandemic, there are additional reasons to consider getting your flu shots!

Below we have listed four important reasons to consider getting your flu shot this winter:

  • The flu vaccine protects you from contracting the flu, and/or lessens the symptoms if you do get the flu, reducing complications and hospitalizations. CDC flu vaccine data has shown that flu vaccines have worked to contain the spread of this deadly virus since the 2003-2004 season. This tracking system helps researchers and manufacturers refine vaccine development. In 2010, the vaccine was 60 percent effective in containing the virus, or thus creating herd immunity, a term more people are familiar with due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Herd immunity means there is a resistance to the spread of a contagious disease within a population if a sufficiently high proportion of individuals are immune to the disease, especially through vaccination.
  • You can potentially contract the flu and COVID-19 viruses at the same time. Physicians strongly believe that this may cause significant respiratory and other health complications.
  • The influenza virus mutates or changes every year. If you received a flu shot last year, it does not necessarily mean that you are protected from getting the flu this year.
  • The flu shot has minimal side effects.  The CDC recommends that everyone over the age of 6 months old should receive a flu vaccine each year.

If you are ready to get your shots today, you can walk-in to our clinic during our normal operating hours. In many cases (depending on your insurance provider) the cost for your vaccine can be minimal or even free.* If your insurance does not cover the vaccination or you do not have insurance, the cost is $37.
